Cold weather shelters open in Tallahassee, South Georgia for those in need

TALLAHASSEE, FLa. (WCTV) – Due to expected cold temperatures, cold weather shelters are opening this week in Tallahassee and South Georgia for those in need.

This list will continue to be updated as we learn more.

Leon County

Shelters are available Monday night through Wednesday night, according to the Big Bend Continuum of Care.

Anyone in need of cold-weather shelters is encouraged to go to any of the locations below that best represent their household composition:

Single Adults (18 and over): The Kearney Center- 2650 Municipal WayFamilies (At least 1 adult and child): HOPE Community- 2729 West PensacolaYouth (ages 10-17): Capital City Youth Services-CCYS – 2407 Roberts Ave- Hotline Number 850-576-6000

Those in need of shelter must show up at their specified location anytime between 4 to 8 p.m. for intake.

Those in need of assistance accessing Star Metro, call Big Bend Continuum of Care’s Street Outreach Coordinator at 850-759-1895 or email outreach@bigbendcoc.org.

Thomas County

A cold-weather shelter is expected to open Monday through Wednesday for those in need, according to the Fountain of Life Rescue.

The shelter, located at 612 East Clay Street in Thomasville, will also be open during the shelter’s normal schedule of Thursday through Sunday nights, the Fountain of Life Rescue wrote in a social media post Sunday morning.

For those interested, doors are set to open at 6 p.m.

Lowndes County

A warming shelter will open Monday through Thursday at the LAMP Day Center, located at 714 Charlton Street in Valdosta, according to LAMP.

Doors open at 6 p.m. each day and close at 8 a.m. each morning, according to the organization.
