Comcast officials announced this week that recent infrastructure investments have expanded the company’s network in Charlotte County, bringing connectivity to an additional 16,400 homes and businesses.
The expansion is part of a broader statewide buildout that made Comcast services available to about 120,000 new addresses across Florida. Charlotte County and Lehigh Acres ranked among the company’s largest expansion areas, with Lehigh Acres adding service for more than 15,500 homes and businesses.
Communities included in the statewide expansion range from Southwest Florida to the Panhandle and South Florida. Newly serviceable areas include Punta Gorda, Cape Coral, Naples, Arcadia, Avon Park, Coral Springs, Hastings, Havana, Okeechobee, Homestead, Jacksonville, Lake Worth, Miami, Port St. Lucie, St. Augustine and The Villages.
“We’re incredibly proud of the work our teammates put into this record-breaking year of network expansion,” said Mike Fisher, vice president of engineering for Comcast’s Florida region.
“By bringing reliable, high-speed internet to more homes and businesses across Florida — especially in growing and rural communities — families can stream, learn and connect with loved ones, and local entrepreneurs can reach new customers and compete in today’s digital economy.”
For local businesses, Comcast Business provides a range of services, including connectivity, communications, networking, cybersecurity, wireless and managed solutions designed to support organizations of various sizes. Fisher said those offerings are intended to help businesses meet operational needs and pursue growth opportunities.
Residential services are marketed under the Xfinity brand. Customers in newly connected areas will have access to Xfinity’s full lineup of products, including internet, video, mobile, voice and home security services.

In addition to its commercial and residential offerings, Comcast highlighted its Internet Essentials program, which the company launched in 2011. The program provides low-cost internet service, digital skills training and subsidized computers to eligible income-constrained households.
Company officials said Internet Essentials has assisted hundreds of thousands of Floridians, including students, senior citizens, veterans and individuals with disabilities who are enrolled in public assistance programs.
Florida Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Mark Wilson praised Comcast’s investment, calling the expansion a significant boost for the state.
“This is a tremendous win for Florida,” Wilson said. “We’re thrilled to see a company like Comcast investing in the future of our state by spending the money necessary to build advanced infrastructure.”
Wilson said the expansion aligns with Florida’s broader economic growth efforts and noted that access to high-speed internet is increasingly critical.
He said reliable connectivity is essential for attracting new businesses, supporting remote work, expanding access to telehealth services and improving educational opportunities. For many residents in newly served areas, Wilson said, this will be the first time they have access to dependable internet service.
Comcast officials said network expansion efforts will continue into 2026 and beyond, with additional projects planned in rural parts of the state. Future expansion areas include Sarasota, Bay, Glades, Hamilton, Hardee, Hendry, Indian River, Lake, Nassau, Polk, Putnam, Union and Wakulla counties.
