A cold front just in time for New Year’s Eve is going to drop temperatures across South Florida, so fans of chilly temps can start their 2026 off right.

Just be wary of falling iguanas.

A temperature rollercoaster

South Florida will go from the mid-80s on Monday to some of the coolest weather in almost a year by New Year’s Eve.

The cold front we are tracking is well north of our region on Monday, so the sunshine and west winds in the forecast will push highs into the mid-80s.

These numbers are near records. The current record high for this date in Miami and Fort Lauderdale comes in at 85 degrees, so it’ll be close.

Cold front

The cold front blasts through first half of the day on Tuesday, and you’ll notice right away.

Morning 40s are possible both New Year’s Eve morning and the morning of New Year’s Day. These numbers could be the coolest since last January!

A slow warm up ensues as we creep into the weekend.
