Overnight cold shelters in Leon County are reopening starting Monday, Dec. 29, through Wednesday, Dec. 31, as temperatures are expected to feel like 26 degrees.
The National Weather Service warns the forecast will be a temperature “whiplash,” after several days of warm weather covered the region.
“Hazardous wind chills arrive late tonight into tmrw morning. Bundle up,” the NWS Tallahassee posted on social media.
Those seeking shelter from the nearly freezing temperatures are encouraged to visit any of the intake facilities between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. The locations are based on household composition.
