A man wanted for killing two people in North Carolina was arrested early Friday in Port St. Lucie, Florida, authorities said.

Port St. Lucie police said they were notified at around 1:30 a.m. that a double homicide suspect out of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina was driving a black Nissan Altima in the area of Southeast Port St. Lucie Boulevard and Southeast Bayshore Boulevard.

Officers stopped 38-year-old Alvaro Luis Ozuna Sierra at an intersection and took him into custody without incident.

NBC affiliate WCNC reported that Ozuna Sierra was being sought in the shooting deaths of two people on Thursday in North Carolina.

“Ozuna Sierra was confirmed to be the suspect wanted on two counts of first-degree murder,” police said.

Authorities said they towed the car from the scene, and inside found a cellphone and ammunition.

Ozuna Sierra was arrested and taken to the St. Lucie County Jail, where he is being held without bond pending extradition back to North Carolina.

Police said they did not know the details of the incident involving Ozuna Sierra that resulted in the warrants for his arrest.
