Detectives are investigating after a juvenile was killed in a New Year’s Eve shooting at Fort Lauderdale Beach, police said.

Fort Lauderdale Police said officers responded to the shooting at 17 South Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers found the juvenile male victim with a gunshot wound and gave him first aid before he was rushed to Broward General Medical Center for treatment.

He later died from his injuries. Police haven’t released his identity or age.

Police haven’t released any details about what led to the shooting or who may have pulled the trigger but said detectives believe the shooting was an isolated incident and that there’s no threat to the public.

The investigation was ongoing.
