The Orlando Pride defeated Washington Spirit 3-2 on Saturday afternoon at Audi Field, extending their unbeaten streak in regular season play at the venue to four matches.
Washington took an early lead in the 35th minute on an own goal by Orlando Pride. However, Kerry Abello quickly equalized three minutes later with a powerful shot from just outside the box. It was Abello’s first goal of the season and her first since Nov. 2024 against the Seattle Reign.
Marta entered the game for Orlando at halftime and made an immediate impact. She delivered a cross from the right side that deflected off Spirit midfielder Narumi Miura and into the net. This marked the sixth own goal Orlando has forced this season, tying the NWSL record for most own goals in a single campaign.
Orlando then took the lead when Ally Watt was fouled in the Spirit’s penalty area, earning a penalty kick. Marta converted the penalty, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way for her fourth goal of the regular season. Marta’s 14th career successful penalty kick ties the NWSL record.
““Great game and a great result. We were disappointed with the goals that we conceded, but we showed a lot of resilience to come back and win the game,” Pride coach Seb Hines said.
The Pride now enter an international break before hosting the final game of the 2025 NWSL regular season at Inter&Co Stadium. They will face the Seattle Reign on Sunday, Nov. 2, with the match time yet to be announced. Currently third in the standings, Orlando aims to finish in the top four to secure a first-round home game in the NWSL Playoffs, presented by Google Pixel.
