STUART, Fla. (CBS12) — Stuart detectives have closed the book on another pet theft — this time involving a feathered friend named Cookie.

According to the Stuart Police Department, Cookie, a black-capped conure, was stolen from a Pet Supermarket in Stuart in late November.

Detectives say they quickly followed leads, gathered evidence, and pieced together the case, which led them to an 18-year-old suspect.

Police say the suspect was arrested, and Cookie was safely reunited with his rightful owner on Saturday.

The bust comes just weeks after Stuart detectives tracked down a $2,900 Pomeranian dognapper in north Florida.
