The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) announced that it will fully close a portion SW 8 street over the weekend to continue construction of the pedestrian bridge.

The construction of this pedestrian bridge comes after the previous bridge installed collapsed in 2018 and ended up killing six people.

The closure at SW 8 street is between SW 107 Ave. and SW 117 Ave., starting 10 p.m. on Friday and ending Monday at 6 a.m., says FDOT.

There will be closure before that at 6 p.m., on Friday, with a single eastbound lane between SW 112 Ave. and SW 109 Ave.

The full closure of SW 8 Street between SW 107 Ave. and SW 117 Ave. will be starting Friday at 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. Monday, according to FDOT.
