Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a permit for new signage at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, suggesting the attraction’s exterior will get a refresh ahead of its spring 2026 reopening.
The Notice of Commencement, filed with Orange County, lists “install Signage” as the scope of work. Design Communications is named as the vendor – a company that regularly works with WDI on marquees and exterior signage throughout Walt Disney World.
The permit filing indicates new exterior signage will likely appear at the Tomorrowland attraction in the coming weeks or months.

Major Refurbishment Wrapping Up
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin closed in August 2025 for a significant update. The ride will reopen in spring 2026 with new scenes, redesigned vehicles, upgraded blasters, and more responsive gameplay tech.
The opening sequence has been completely reworked. It introduces Buddy, a new support robot created by Walt Disney Imagineering and Pixar. Buddy prepares Space Rangers for their mission with system checks, encouragement, and a chance to test the updated interactive targets.
Ride vehicles now feature Star Command styling and onboard screens that display real-time scoring. The old fixed blasters are gone, replaced by handheld versions that offer better aim. The new blasters include vibration, sound effects, and an always-on laser to help you track your shots.
Interactive targets throughout the attraction now react and light up when hit, giving clearer feedback during gameplay.
Disney has not announced a specific reopening date beyond spring 2026.
