She strives to give her students the best education, giving one-on-one attention and inspiring kids as she goes.

“If I give them that solid foundation where they know their letters, they fluently know their letters, their sounds, and they can read going into first grade, then that will give them something to build upon and be successful,” said Chavis.
She truly wants the best for every student.
“It’s my job to give them all that I have, so I look at them, if that was my child in that room, how would I like that teacher to treat my child?” said Chavis.
Years ago, she saw a need for a Parent Teacher Association at the school, so she created one.
“I believe that with the parents and teachers working together, we have so much more to offer our students, our teachers, and our parents. So it was my mission to get it started,” said Chavis.
Chavis also tutors students before school and after, spends time with them during her lunch break, and helps out however she can.
“You’ll see her around campus picking up the trash, you’ll see her literally mopping floors, you’ll see her washing dishes,” said Andre McConico. He nominated Chavis to be featured as our A+ Teacher.
Chavis also gives back to her community by feeding the homeless.
“It just feels good to see others happy. It just makes me feel good, and when I give and do, I give from the heart, looking for nothing in return but for them to be happy,” said Chavis.
She gives her all to her students to prepare them for first grade.
“It’s my job to push them to their greatness. Not to the best. But to their greatness,” said Chavis.
