Touring Broadway hit & Juliet — a musical imagining of Ms. Capulet’s life sans one troublesome Romeo — comes to Orlando for a nearly weeklong run, featuring a very familiar local-fave face.
Verily, none other than Joey Fatone of *NSync and Fat One’s Hot Dogs fame joins the production to reprise the role of … Lance (they take liberties!) for the duration.
& Juliet combines the works of the two immortal bards, Max Martin and William Shakespeare — with a hand from book writer David West Read (of Schitt’s Creek infamy) — for a campy romp through Martin’s pop hits welded to Shakespeare’s texts, all reimagined as a bit of a self-aware rom-com. Is this peak post-post-postmodernism? Likely.
Tuesday-Sunday, Jan. 6-11, Walt Disney Theater, Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, 445 S. Magnolia Ave., drphillipscenter.org, $62-$221.
