Orlando City is finalizing a loan deal to send winger Nicolas Rodriguez to Colombian club Atletico Nacional, sources with knowledge of the information have told WESH 2. It’s unclear the terms of the agreement, but reports out of Colombia suggest it’s a one-year loan deal with an option to purchase. Rodriguez, 21, joined Orlando City ahead of the 2025 season from Colombian club Fortaleza CEIF. He joined the team as an U-22 Initiative player. His 2025 season was marked with mostly injuries that prevented the player from breaking out and limiting him to 12 regular season games. With Rodriguez on the move, it will open up a U-22 Initiative slot for Orlando after the team filled two of three spots this offseason with the signings of Tiago Souza and Luis Otavio.Rodriguez is under contract with Orlando City through the 2027 season but does have an option year for 2028. WESH also understands that Luis Muriel’s reported move to Colombia’s Atletico Junior is ‘far from concrete’ according to sources with knowledge of the information. Muriel, 34, will enter his last year of his contract with Orlando, but has been heavily linked with a move away from the Lions this past offseason. Should Muriel’s transfer materialize, it would also open up a Designated Player spot heading into the 2026 MLS season.
