Innovation High School is undefeated so far in just its second high school football season

Wide receiver David Moore is leading the way in touchdowns for the Bulls

Innovation started last season with a blank slate — a team full of new players, a new coach and a team with no seniors.

“It’s been a lot of fun from Day 1,” coach Leroy Kinard said. “It’s nice to coach good people. And we have a lot of high-quality, high-character guys on this team.”

The Bulls finished last season with a 5-6 record, and they have won their first seven games this fall.

A big reason is senior wide receiver David Moore. Through six games, Moore averaged over 100 yards a game and had 15 total touchdowns. They have won another game since then.

“It’s definitely been a big step because not only do we have to start a new program, but we have to find leaders and find guys who will step up and take the program and push it to a new level,” Moore said. “Coach is one of the smartest offensive minds here in Orlando, so he’s been able to give me the opportunity to catch the ball, run the ball and find gaps where I can get into the end zone.”

Moore has won everywhere he’s been. In 2023, he was at the Masters Academy, where he won a Sunshine State Athletic Association championship.

“Coming from a place where you have success into a new territory, that’s always like a question mark of what will this be. But I think Coach Kinard definitely did a great job of allowing us to come in and step up,” Moore said.

Moore is a captain for the Bulls and has hopes of playing college football.

“He’s a very good player, but he’s a better person. His dad’s a local pastor here in town. He just brings that, yes, he has talent, but on top of it, he brings the intangible qualities. And if you have that combination together, it’s really nice,” Kinard said.
