TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Florida A&M University welcomed its newest head football coach and athletics director to the Rattler community Friday.
During a press conference, head football coach Quinn Gray, along with Vice President and Athletics Director John Davis and other FAMU leaders, addressed the Rattler Nation.
“We will assess, we will stabilize, we will systematize, we will modernize and we will transform this place,” the athletic director said.
Davis revealed that he and his wife plan to commit $10,000 annually to FAMU Athletics.
FAMU welcoming Davis and Gray comes after the HBCU parted ways with James Colzie, the former head football coach, in early December after his two seasons on the job, according to a press release from FAMU Athletics.
Later that month, it was announced that Gray would be returning to the highest of seven hills. Gray’s proposed contract was approved by the Board of Trustees in late December as a five-year deal.
“All of these opportunities and all these experiences I’ve been a part have really given me the opportunity to be here today, and I wouldn’t change it for the world,” Gray said. “I am a leader of men who is going to take this program back to where it wants, and needs, and always should be, and that’s at the top.”

Davis was appointed the new athletic director in November as President Marva Johnson restructured the athletics leadership team.
