ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A man is facing charges after authorities said he struck a woman with his car while driving recklessly in St. Petersburg.
Adam Rosema, 42, was arrested and charged with racing on a highway and reckless driving resulting in serious bodily injury following the Nov. 8 incident, St. Pete police said in a news release.
According to police, Rosema was driving a white Ford Mustang southbound on 4th Street South near 2nd Avenue South around 1 a.m. when the incident occurred.
Police said a 27-year-old woman was walking westbound on 2nd Avenue South and entered the crosswalk at 4th Street South against the traffic signal. As an uninvolved vehicle slowed to allow the pedestrian to cross, police said Rosema made an improper lane change to pass it and accelerated, striking the pedestrian.
The pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital for treatment.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
