Jacksonville- Gerald Lee Morton, aged 92, went to his heavenly home on Friday January 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville NC.

A funeral service for Gerald will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville. Burial will immediately follow at Onslow Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville. 

Gerald was born on December 11, 1933 in Onslow County to parents Peachie Morton and Lee Morton. He is preceded in death by his parents,  his siblings George Morton, his twin Geraldine Morton Parker, Annabelle Morton Meredith, Nan Morton Kellum, and Wesley Morton, and his newborn son Graham Lee Morton.

Gerald was a hardworking man all his life. He could never sit idle; he was either tending to his lush garden and flowers or working at Furniture Fair until his retirement in 2023 where he worked for over 50 years. He was an intelligent problem solver and could create solutions that no one else could have imagined. He was a charming and humorous man and always had a joke ready for any occasion. He loved to make others laugh. Gerald married the love of his life, Joyce Morton, in 1957 and enjoyed 68 years of marriage until her death on March 17, 2025. Gerald fiercely loved his wife and his family and would do anything he could for them. He was a hero and role model to many and a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Gerald Morton is survived by his children Brenda Ramsey, Kenneth Morton and Sherry Morton, and Tammy Sokoloski along with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all his nieces and nephews.

Gerald is reunited with his beloved and his family in heaven and will be missed by all that knew him. Gerald’s family knows he is at peace with his Lord and Savior.
