WWE is set to host a talent tryout this upcoming week at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. The sessions aim to fill roster gaps in NXT following the recent main roster transitions of top stars like Trick Williams, Jordynne Grace, and Je’Von Evans. Fightful Select and PWInsider come out with several notable names planned for the event, featuring a mix of independent wrestlers and professional athletes.
Among the independent talent, Bruss Hamilton has been confirmed as a participant. Hamilton has made a name for himself on the indie circuit and looks to secure a spot within the developmental brand. Other wrestlers, including Airica Demia and Notorious Mimi, were recently seen training at the Dungeon 2.0 with Nattie Neidhart and TJ Wilson. While Demia was informed she would be in Florida for showcase training, an update on Notorious Mimi’s official status for the tryouts has yet to be provided.
The tryout also features high-level athletes from outside the wrestling industry. Joshua Hillen, a 5’7” former United States Marine and Strongman, is set to attend. Hillen achieved major success in Las Vegas this past October, winning the title of America’s Strongest Veteran. Joining him is James Karnik, a 27-year-old Canadian basketball player who recently played in the Eurocup, and Regina Tarin, an undefeated Mexican MMA fighter with a professional record of 7-0-0.
These recruitment efforts follow a period of significant flux for the NXT brand. While stars like Trick Williams and Je’Von Evans have officially signed main roster contracts, current plans for other talent are still shifting.
As of today, WWE currently has no plans to call up Blake Monroe, who is instead expected to remain in NXT through Stand & Deliver in April. Similarly, Oba Femi is rumored to join the Raw brand after vacating his NXT Championship at New Year’s Evil.
