A man was arrested Saturday in connection with a string of recent burglaries in the Winter Park community, according to the Winter Park Police Department.After a series of residential burglaries along the Phelps corridor of Winter Park, police began a surveillance operation.According to police, during the operation, officers heard two loud bangs in the vicinity and encountered a suspect fleeing from an unoccupied residence. The suspect, later identified as 39-year-old Joel Rosario, attempted to flee in a vehicle. While doing so, Rosario hit an unmarked officer’s vehicle, police said.A BOLO Alert, also known as a be on the lookout alert, was issued in neighboring areas.The Orange County Sheriff’s Office encountered the vehicle, and after a brief pursuit, the suspect got out of the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot before he was taken into custody by deputies. Rosario has been charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, burglary, criminal mischief, resisting a law enforcement officer with violence and fleeing or eluding a law enforcement officer.According to police, Rosario is a suspect in three other burglaries, all of which took place over the course of five days. Investigators have not identified a connection between Rosario and the victims at this time.
