PHILADELPHIA, Pen. (WWSB) – The Lightning achieved something on Saturday they haven’t accomplished in six seasons.
With a 7-2 victory over the Flyers, they extended their season-best winning streak to nine games. The last time the team won that many consecutive games was the 2019-2020 season, a season that ended with Jon Cooper’s Lightning hoisting the Stanley Cup.
On top of that milestone, Nikita Kucherov also continued his great play. Kucherov tallied four points on Saturday, scoring two goals in the first period. He’s now had eight-consecutive multi-point games. That’s the most since his former Lightning teammate Steven Stamkos had nine in 2022.
The Lightning will look to extend their winning streak to ten games against the same Flyers squad on Monday night. Game time at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia is set for 7 p.m.
