If Miami Hurricanes fans want to attend UM’s College Football Playoff title game against Indiana, they may have to cancel their next vacation, forget about their January budget or even take out a loan.

With two eager fan bases involved and Miami playing at its home stadium, the national championship at Hard Rock Stadium next Monday (Jan. 19) has ticket prices on secondary markets driven extraordinarily high.

The cheapest ticket to get in, on StubHub, as of Monday afternoon, was $3,355. On SeatGeek, it’s $3,501. GameTime? $3,214.

That’s just to get into the stadium in the far reaches of the upper deck.

According to a Yahoo story, the average ticket price overall on secondary markets is $5,589. That’s nearly double the average ticket price of last year’s college football title game between Ohio State and Notre Dame in Atlanta.

Now, there’s a chance the limited supply thus far has inflated prices a week ahead of the big game. Not all the tickets have hit the market yet.

Indiana and Miami both get an allotment of tickets sold by the universities at face value.

UM’s allotment goes on sale Tuesday at noon to 2026 season-ticket holders and Hurricane Club donors and then opens up to 2025 season-ticket holders and donors at 2 p.m., while inventory remains. Fans must sign up to qualify for the earlier slot by 11:59 p.m. Monday night, according to the school’s athletics site. Face-value tickets are expected to sell fast.

The two fan bases are understandably driving resale prices up.

The Hurricanes have won five national championships, but haven’t won one since the 2001 season. They are playing in their first title game in 23 years.

Indiana has never won the college football crown and is appearing in a championship game for the first time. Hoosiers fans flooded Atlanta for last Friday’s CFP semifinal win over Oregon, so expect them to put up a fight in challenging the UM fans for the attendance edge in Miami’s home stadium.
