JACKSONVILLE  –  Sherrie Hutchinson Hoopes, 63, of Jacksonville, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026.  Funeral services will take place at 11:30 AM on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel.  Graveside services will follow at Onslow Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hoopes was born on February 5, 1962, in Clay, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Hutchinson; her mother, Jacqueline Hutchinson; her brother, Gary Hutchinson; and her sister, Priscilla Holbrook.

Survivors include her loving husband, Michael Hoopes; her devoted daughter, Morgan Hoopes Jarman; her son-in-law, Elliot Jarman; and her cherished grandson, Eli Jarman, who brought immeasurable joy to her life. She is also survived by many beloved family members and friends who became family through the years.

Sherrie was known for her generous spirit, her kindness, and her ability to make others feel deeply loved and welcomed. She gave freely of herself, always placing the needs of others before her own. Her warmth, strength, and compassion left an indelible mark on all who knew her, and her presence will be profoundly missed.

A viewing will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home.

In accordance with Sherrie’s wishes, the family kindly requests that attendees refrain from wearing dark clothing, if possible, as she hoped her life would be celebrated in color.

Sherrie lived her faith quietly and faithfully, serving as “salt and light” to all she encountered. Her life reflected Christ’s love through compassion, humility, and selfless service. While her earthly journey has ended, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life and take comfort in knowing she now rests in the presence of her Savior.

Her legacy of love, generosity, and grace will live on through all those lives she touched.

Flowers are welcome, but for those who prefer, memorials may be made to the Onslow County Animal Shelter or the Children Healthy Eating on Weekends (CHEW) program, two causes she cared deeply about.
