JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — Complaints of fireworks exploding in Jacksonville over the last few weeks led to the discovery of one culprit on Monday, police said.
In a news release, Jacksonville Police officials said people have posted on social media over the last three weeks referencing loud booms in the area. Officers were called to the reported locations several times but were unable to find anything that may have been causing the issue.

Jacksonville Police received another report of a boom at 11:15 p.m. on Monday, officials said. When they responded, officers learned information that indicated someone was throwing fireworks out of a moving vehicle.
“Officers continued their investigation and discovered a juvenile, who admitted to shooting off fireworks from his vehicle, was still in possession of fireworks,” officials said.
The juvenile was issued a ticket for violating city ordinance. The remaining fireworks the juvenile had were confiscated.
