‘You will die, pig:’ Man accused of threatening to kill Florida Gov. DeSantis

  • January 13, 2026

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A Central Florida man has been taken into custody after he apparently issued a death threat aimed at Gov. Ron DeSantis, according to court records obtained by News 6.

In a criminal complaint, detectives said that the death threat was posted on X.com back in November by a user with the handle “NeverDead**.”

The post reads as follows:

“Hey prick @GovRonDeSantis You are both a bozo and a Bonzo. And miss Attorney General Pam Bondi will kill you in court. While I laugh. [EXPLETIVE] you, Ron DeSantis, Omerta, I will kill you. Don’t worry, you will die, pig.”

Afterward, detectives said they traced the post back to Daniel Cook, 39, who lives in Edgewater. Volusia County deputies later made contact with Cook for an interview.

“Cook admitted that the X account ‘NeverDead**’ was his and that he had made the post as an expression of frustration related to feeling blamed and marginalized over a prior incident,” the complaint reads.

But on New Year’s Eve, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement received word from investigators in Texas about another threatening X post — this time aimed at U.S. Secret Service Director Sean Curran.

According to investigators, this post reads as follows:

“@SecretService Sean Curran. I’ll kill you. Mark my words. You cunt butch. Fuck you die.”

Again, the post was traced back to Cook in Edgewater, detectives added.

As such, Cook was arrested on Monday and now faces charges of threats against a law enforcement officer, two counts of written threats to kill, and two counts of unlawful use of a two-way communication device during the commission of a felony.

He is held on no bond.
