DeSantis appoints Adam Tanenbaum to Florida Supreme Court

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Gray Florida Capital Bureau) – Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Adam Tanenbaum to the Florida Supreme Court during a news conference Wednesday morning.

Tanenbaum replaces Charles Canady, who stepped down for a job at the University of Florida. Tanenbaum had been a judge in the First District Court of Appeal in Tallahassee.

DeSantis appointed Tanenbaum to the First District Court of Appeal in October 2019. Before his judicial appointment, Tanenbaum served as general counsel for the Florida House of Representatives, where he provided legal advice to the Speaker and House members on legislative matters, ethics laws and constitutional interpretation.

He previously served as general counsel for the Florida Department of State and chief deputy solicitor general at the Florida Department of Legal Affairs.

With this appointment, DeSantis has appointed all but one justice on the state supreme court.
