JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WAND) – The Jacksonville Fire Department was called out for a huge fire at a vacant apartment building early Thursday morning.
The historic building on West State Street in downtown Jacksonville caught fire just before 6 a.m.
Firefighters searched the building and found no one inside.
JFD tells WAND News the fire is considered to be under control as of 8:30 a.m., but it is still an active scene with firefighters working on hot spots.
It is a stand alone structure, and firefighters said no neighboring buildings are at risk.
