TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – As temperatures tumble into the 20’s tonight, Elder Care Services is in need of heaters for seniors in Tallahassee.
Nicole Ballas of Elder Care Services says there is a waitlist for heaters at the senior center. The few heaters they have left have already been claimed and there are 20 more seniors on the waitlist.
Elder Care Services needs plug-in safety heaters that will automatically shut off if they accidentally fall over.
Nicole says that in these cold temperatures, having a heater can literally mean the difference between life or death for seniors.
“Extreme temperatures are an issue for all of us, but especially for older adults,” Ballas said.
To donate a heater to Elder Care Services, you can drop it off at Elder Care Services’ main office at 2518 W. Tennessee Street, or go to their website. Any size heater is accepted.
They also have an Amazon wish list, which you can access on their Facebook or Instagram pages.
