TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – 2026 is off to a great Furry Friday start with seven lucky dogs already adopted in the new year, including Crystal, who had been at the shelter longer than all the rest!
Furry Friday is collaboration between WCTV and the Tallahassee Animal Service Center designed to get dogs out of their kennels and into the spotlight in hopes of helping them find fur-ever homes faster.
Here are the dogs we are featuring this week:
MEET SAGESage is a big girl is hoping to find a family with big love and big laps!(WCTV)
Meet Sage!
This queen size shepherd is the perfect plus one!
Sage is super smart. She knows sit, shake, and even speak.
The black beauty was recently surrendered by her family because her lush coat was too much for her owner’s allergies to take.
Sage is a family dog who prefers to be your one and only dog.
She loves long walks, play time, and kids.
Tipping the scales at 120 pounds, this big girl is hoping to find a family with big love and big laps!
Please visit Sage at the shelter this weekend!
MEET ROCKOThis little poundcake of a puppy is full of energy and full of kisses!(WCTV)
Meet Rocko!
This little poundcake of a puppy is full of energy and full of kisses.
He might be mister misunderstood. Rocko looks tough, but he’s really a big teddy bear.
He likes holding hands and shaking hands … and he’s into hugging and snuggling and just seems to melt when you rub his ears just right.
Rocko sports a toasted caramel coat with matching eyes and while we were walking, he kept looking over his shoulder to make sure I wasn’t far behind.
Rocko would love nothing more than to walk into the sunset with a family of his own.
Please visit him at the shelter this weekend!
MEET JOSHUAJoshua is coming out of his shell and you just can’t wipe the smile off his face!(WCTV)
Meet Joshua!
This friendly fella is looking for a fresh start.
He was terrified when he first arrived at the shelter, but now he’s coming out of his shell. And you just can’t wipe the smile off his face!
Joshua is active and affectionate and sports an adorable set of speckled ears!
He is playful and easy going and seems to have discovered that life is good.
He especially enjoyed going “off road,” tromping through the leaves and smelling all the smells.
Joshua is oh so ready to find a loving and loyal family!
Please visit him at the shelter this weekend!
MEET NELLIENellie is determined to get the most out of life and the most out of every excursion!(WCTV)
Meet Nellie!
This terrific two year old minds her manners and loves her treats!
Nellie is determined to get the most out of life and the most out of every excursion, sitting contentedly for a back scratch and then stretching out in the sunshine and the cool green grass.
Nellie belly crawling straight into a roll and wiggle!
This caramel cutie was having so much fun on her walk that she didn’t want to go back. She wouldn’t budge until we started doling out treats.
Perhaps one day, she’ll never have to go back! But instead into the arms and hearts of her own loving family!
Please visit Nellie at the shelter this weekend!
