CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Dogs, drones, helicopters, and a terrifying scene unfolded in a Cape Coral neighborhood where police responded to a report of a man threatening another person with a gun on Wednesday.

No arrests have been made yet, leaving some residents concerned about the potential danger.

WINK News was on the scene to gather reactions from the community. A woman working at a local cafe shared her concerns, especially since she lives in the neighborhood.

“I’m a little concerned, like, why we’re not walking this neighborhood, asking people if they’ve seen this kid. I mean, he’s obviously here somewhere,” she said.

Michelle Clark returned to work less than 100 feet from the crime scene and described the lasting impact of the incident.

“How quick you can be a victim to somebody else’s anger, violence, drug addiction? It’s very scary. We didn’t sleep real well around here last night,” said Clark.

Other residents, like Mel Shaver, felt differently about the situation.

“I feel very safe in this area. But every so often, something will happen or change that. And this was just one of those situations,” said Shaver.

He added that, while he believes the Cape Coral Police Department did a great job, his confidence in their ability to catch the suspect is moderate.

“I would give them maybe a six,” Shaver said.

The police stated that this is an active investigation and promised to provide updates as they become available.
