Tracking some 60s on Saturday before another winter blast

  • January 17, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – We are warming up to kick off the weekend, but the forecast turns a little more interesting by Sunday.

Tonight Through Saturday Night

Moisture and clouds are set to increase for Friday night. As a result, lows are not as frigid. We bottom out in the upper-30s to low-40s under a partly to mostly cloudy sky.

Saturday is looking partly sunny and mild. Highs climb into the mid-and-upper-60s. Spotty showers are possible to start the weekend, but we are not tracking a washout.

For Saturday night, moisture continues to increase. The forecast is looking pretty soggy as widespread rain showers are likely. Lows tumble into the mid-and-upper-30s by Sunday morning under a cloudy sky.

All Eyes On Sunday

Things become a little more interesting and messy by Sunday morning. Behind this system, cold air will start to rush into the region and cause a brief changeover from rain to wintry mix.

The changeover should happen between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday. You will not see winter weather for the entire time period. However, during this time, there is a brief (1-3 hour) window of a wintry mix.

On the ground, temperatures are above freezing (33-36 degrees). As a result, most of what falls will melt. So, we are expecting no accumulation for most of the region. However, a few spots could see a light dusting or a light coating in the grass, on roofs and on cars. Right now, the better chance of a coating looks to be in our South Georgia counties.

This is a completely different system from January of 2025. This weather system is quick-moving and dealing with above-freezing air. As a result, we are not anticipating major impacts at this point.

Behind This Front

We are turning drier and much cooler behind this system.

Lows dip into the mid-20s by Monday morning. We remain dry and sunny to start the work week. Highs reach the mid-50s.

After lows in the mid-to-upper-20s Tuesday morning, we are dry and mostly sunny for the afternoon. Highs top out in the low-to-mid-50s.

Another frigid morning is ahead to start your Wednesday. Lows settle in the mid-20s. However, we see upper-50s and low-60s for the afternoon as our dry, mostly sunny weather continues.
