If you’re heading to Universal Orlando and have access to both parks, you’re likely planning to take the Hogwarts Express in between the two parks instead of walking — it’s lots more fun that way!
Hogwarts Express
The ride on the train is different in each direction, so we recommend taking it both ways during your trip. However, if you’re traveling to the parks in February, this is your reminder that this attraction will be CLOSED for refurbishment for a large majority of the month.
Next month, the Hogwarts Express will be closed from February 9th to 23rd, 2026, for refurbishment. Universal hasn’t mentioned what exactly is happening during this refurb, but we’re not overly concerned. Refurbishments are completely normal and happen to keep the attractions running normally and safely. While they can be frustrating, especially if you were really looking forward to the ride during your vacation, it’s important they happen.
Hogwarts Express Cabin
Fortunately, no other closures are scheduled for Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley, so you’ll be able to experience the rest of the lands as normal. You’ll just need to walk between Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios, exiting one park at the front and entering the other, instead of taking the train, but thankfully, the walk isn’t long!

While the closures may be a bummer, it gives you more of a chance to explore some of our favorite details around The Wizarding World of Harry Potter lands. In Universal Studios, don’t miss taking a photo in front of the Knight Bus and chatting with the driver (and the shrunken head!), or take a look at Number 12 Grimmauld Place and see if you can spot Kreacher poking his head out through the curtains.
