An event so magical, it’s worth another look

December’s celebration of the Cape Florida Lighthouse, El Farito, and its 200th birthday, was a magical night. A symbol of change since 1825, the lighthouse was honored in a way worthy of the oldest standing structure in Miami-Dade County.

Several hundred visitors enjoyed an unforgettable evening of 3D mapping projections, holographic displays, music, presentations, poetry and skits by Juggerknot Theatre Company that brought the lighthouse’s remarkable history to life.

The celebration was made possible through the collective efforts of Friends of Cape Florida, the Key Biscayne Community Foundation, Florida Parks & Recreation Department, Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park staff, Chris Hosford Studio, Steve Sterling and Hologram Solutions & Technologies), Preference Consulting and many community partners.
