Ā
A cold start to the second quarter was disrupted as Shavers got herself on the board with a triple and subsequent jumper. Risch and Sydney Bowles would follow up with threes of their own just 50 seconds apart, bringing the distance on the scoreboard down to single digits. A late run by North Carolina in the remaining four minutes pulled the Tar Heels ahead, 38-19.Ā
Ā
Bowles and Shavers tied for a team-leading five points. Greene led the effort on the glass with three rebounds while four different Seminoles recorded a pair each. Williams and Greene each recorded two steals, accounting for four of the team’s five total first half takeaways.Ā
Ā
Layups within the first minute from Allie Kubek and Williams opened the second half scoring for the Seminoles. Though UNC would answer back, consecutive three-pointers from Williams and Shavers in the seventh minute cut further into the deficit. Risch added her second make from deep and a lone free throw from Treadwell would close out third quarter scoring for FSU, trailing 61-35 entering the final quarter.
Ā
Shavers fired from the top of the perimeter to kick off fourth quarter scoring, followed up by a contested layup from Bonner. A corner three by freshman guard Mari Gerton, a jumper from Risch and a pair of free throws from Treadwell would round out the final two minutes of the game as the game ended 82-55 in favor of the Tar Heels.Ā
