Tallahassee, Florida – A rain-to-snow transition is underway across parts of the Florida Panhandle and nearby regions early Sunday morning, with slushy road conditions possible, according to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee.

In a 6:30 AM ET radar update, the National Weather Service said the rain/snow line continues to move southeast as colder air pushes in behind a cold front. This colder air is allowing snow to reach the ground in some areas. Forecasters noted that the estimated rain-snow line is based on model data and may not exactly match where transitions occur.

The National Weather Service expects locations across the eastern Florida Panhandle, as well as parts of southeast Alabama and southwest Georgia, to begin transitioning to a rain-snow mix or all snow within the next hour or two. Areas that experience the heaviest snowfall rates could see slushy roads develop, particularly during the morning hours.

Officials urged motorists to consider delaying travel if possible. Those who must drive are advised to reduce speeds, remain alert for changing road conditions, and use extreme caution, especially on bridges and elevated surfaces.

The National Weather Service emphasized that conditions may vary significantly over short distances as the rain-snow line shifts and colder air continues to move into the region.

Residents are encouraged to monitor official updates for the latest information as the situation evolves through the morning.
