Democrats, immigration advocates to speak out against ICE action in Orlando

  • January 19, 2026

APOPKA, Fla. – A group of Orlando-area Democrats and immigration advocates will speak today about increasing immigration raids by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement across Central Florida, the fear it’s causing our immigrant communities, and the implications for civil rights and due process.

The news conference will take place at noon at Hope CommUnity Center in Apopka.

Speakers will include Rep. Maxwell Frost, D-Orlando, State Sen. LaVon Bracy-Davis, D-Ocoee, Orange County Commissioner Nicole Wilson, and representatives from the immigration community, particularly the Venezuelan, Haitian and farm worker communities.

News 6 has been digging into increased ICE activity around the Orlando area.

Last week, Frost said his office had confirmed that ICE had made a large number of hotel room reservations in the area. Frost and other lawmakers also say they’re hearing more from constituents about ICE agents in the area, looking for people to detain.

Then on Friday, News 6 was there as ICE representatives toured a warehouse facility in East Orange County as they looked for a place to open a detainment center.

News 6 will stream the news conference when it happens in the video player above.
