Snow returns to Panhandle for second year in a row

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It’s hard to believe that snow was recorded in the Panhandle for a second year in a row!

Snow in Florida

While our area saw a chilly rain with temperatures in the 40s, there was enough cold air to our west to produce snow. Seeing snow two years in a row is highly unusual for our state.

Snowfall totals from Sunday’s system.

Snow reports from the Panhandle ranged from a dusting to an inch or two. Accumulation was found on grassy and elevated surfaces. Road temperatures were too warm for any accumulation.

Snow briefly covered the grass and rooftops in parts of the western Florida Panhandle on Sunday morning as just enough frigid air rushed in behind a cold front to turn the last rain showers into snowflakes in the Sunshine State.
