It’s Indiana and Miami in a College Football Playoff final that once seemed impossible.

The game is set for 7:30 p.m. EST at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, a long-ago-chosen venue that happens to be the home of the Hurricanes.

It’ll be a homecoming for Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, the Heisman Trophy winner, who’s playing for the title against a school that was less than a mile away from where he grew up in Miami.

Miami coach Mario Cristobal is a local, too, who came back home four years ago to lead his alma mater to a place it hasn’t been in decades.

The winner claims the national championship in the second year of the expanded 12-team CFP — a title that would be the first for Indiana and the sixth for Miami.
