PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — A tense standoff ended without injury Sunday afternoon after a man barricaded himself inside a bedroom during an aggravated assault incident in a Port St. Lucie neighborhood.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office (SLCSO) said its deputies responded to a home on Entrada Avenue, near U.S. Highway 1, on October 19 at 2:43 p.m. At the scene, deputies learned that the suspect had locked himself in a bedroom following a reported assault.

SLCSO said its deputies worked to de-escalate the situation, and by using tactics and securing the area to protect nearby residents, were able to get Antonio Conde Cabrera, 40, of Dania Beach, to surrender voluntarily.

Cabrera was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and transported to the St. Lucie County Jail, where he remains held.
