ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. January 8, 2026 – Performance Regattas is bringing a new era of high-performance sailing to St. Petersburg with a fast-paced, tech-powered racing format designed as a true spectator sport.
Performance Regattas combines cutting-edge foiling technology, real-time data, and short, high-speed races on a circular racecourse where sailors fly above the water on identical foiling BirdyFish boats provided by the league. The format removes traditional barriers to entry while delivering nonstop action for fans on shore and on water.
The eight series 2026 Fast Eddie Cup launches in St. Petersburg from Spa Peach at the St. Pete Pier with two series on Jan. 23 – 25 and March 6 – 8, featuring 15 two person teams competing in weekend-long elimination tournaments. Sailors race one weekend to win a regatta or can compete in both for a chance at the series title, increased prize money, and a spot in the season Grand Finale.
“St. Petersburg is the perfect home for this kind of racing – it’s a city that embraces innovation, waterfront culture, and sport,” said Chris Morrison, founder of Performance Regattas. “We’re building something that’s never been done before and inviting the community to experience sailing in a completely new way.”
Each race of the tournament lasts approximately 10 minutes, are open to all genders and individuals 15 or older, and are driven by significant cash prizes. Beyond individual regattas, Performance Regattas aims to build a national sailing ecosystem that includes professional circuits, youth development, and fan engagement initiatives.
Registration remains open for both St. Petersburg events at https://www.performanceregattas.us/.
