A retired Orlando Police Department officer was murdered in a family dispute.
OPD officers recently responded to a shooting at 1247 Kozart Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim lying on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries, according to law enforcement.
Preliminary information indicates this incident stemmed from a family dispute, according to OPD. The suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended by TAC officers following coordination with Polk County and Highlands County.
The victim was identified as Dennis Turner, who retired from the Orlando Police Department in 2018 after serving the City of Orlando for 23 years as an officer.
The suspect, Jeffery London, was charged with First-Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
