Crash on I-95 kills 71-year-old man in Port St. Lucie; investigation ongoing

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — More information was revealed about a single deadly vehicle crash that occurred on Friday afternoon.

According to a crash report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2026 GMC Acadia SUV was traveling north on I-95 near mile marker 116 in the city limits of Port St. Lucie.

The police department says the vehicle drifted off the roadway to the left, entered the grass median, and collided with a tree.

The driver, identified as a 71-year-old man, was taken to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The traffic homicide investigation is ongoing, police say.
