Florida Citrus Commission could see a $1 million increase in revenue after a revised forecast of this season’s citrus crop. The commission, which oversees the Florida Department of Citrus, updated its revenue estimates after the Department of Agriculture projected higher production for oranges and specialty fruits. Orange output is now forecast at 12 million boxes, up from 11.6 million, while specialty fruits increased to 400,000 boxes. Grapefruit production remains at 1.2 million boxes. The higher estimates are expected to generate $1.049 million in additional box-tax revenue, which will initially be directed into reserves.
