Cape Coral awards SW Santa Barbara sidewalk contract | GB Daily

Cape Coral City Council awarded a contract to Newson Construction and Consulting LLC for $474,236 to lay down a 5-foot-wide sidewalk along the west side of Southwest Santa Barbara Place from Nicholas Parkway to Southwest 20th Street and continuing on the north side of Southwest 20th. The new sidewalk will match the existing one along Santa Barbara. Council members agreed to move forward with Newson Construction at their Jan. 21 meeting after city staff considered a total of ten bids for the construction project, which is funded with a Florida Department of Transportation grant. Newson offered the lowest bid to meet the project requirements. The contract calls for the sidewalk to be completed within a year.
