All eyes continue to monitor the major January winter storm to our north and west
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Ranging from mid-to-upper 60s along the coast to mid-to-upper 70s inland, it’s going to be a great weather day. Winds increase on Saturday, with gusty conditions as an area of high pressure passes by, bringing slightly cooler air to the beaches and moderate rip current risk, cooler inland before a warm front lifts from the south to the north. This is associated with the Gulf low that’s going to lift and meet the arctic blast late Saturday into Sunday.
Friday forecast
Meanwhile, on Sunday, we’ll be closing in on record high temperatures – 83 degrees at JAX from 2023. The warmth builds before another cold front sweeps through Sunday night with rainy weather and isolated thunderstorms, before temperatures take a dive on Monday. Freezing conditions return Tuesday morning with hard freezes likely inland.
Here’s the latest from the Weather Prediction Center regarding the major January winter storm. Please be sure to check your travel plans if you have any flights connecting in the cities within the storm area.
