ST. LUCIE COUNTY – Residents are invited to explore, create and connect with a diverse array of adult programming at St. Lucie County Library branches.

Adult special events for February include:

• Beginner Crochet Series: Wednesdays, Feb. 4, 11 and 18 at 1:30 p.m. at the Susan B. Kilmer Branch.

Hone your crochet skills to tackle any project with a new stitch and project each week and all supplies provided.

• Film Club at the Library: Wednesdays, Feb. 4 and 18 at 3 p.m. at the Pruitt Campus Library Branch. Watch the movie selection on Kanopy at your convenience and come to the library for a discussion.

• Beginner Sewing: Thursdays, Feb. 5 and 12 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Zora Neale Hurston Branch. This two-part beginner class consists of sewing machine basics, terminology and a finished take-home project for patrons 16 and older.

• Adult Coloring and Conversation: Saturday, Feb. 7 from 11 a.m. to noon at the Paula A. Lewis Branch and Thursday, Feb. 19 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Lakewood Park Branch.

Adult coloring promotes wellness, quietness and stimulates areas of the brain related to motor skills, the senses and creativity. Join us to color and relax with our materials or your own.

• Stamp Carving 101: Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 1 p.m. at the Susan B. Kilmer Branch. Practice techniques to carve a custom stamp in a program intended for adults.

• Art in the Afternoon: Friday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. at the Susan B. Kilmer Branch and Saturday, Feb. 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Lakewood Park Branch. Projects include a hand-made wreath made from recycled puzzle pieces on Feb. 13 and plate painting on Feb. 28 with all materials supplied.

• Stitch & Fix (Mending Help): Saturday, Feb. 14 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Zora Neale Hurston Branch. Bring your small repairs and home sewing projects to the library where a volunteer will be available to help you use our sewing machines for mending, fixing, and problem-solving.

• Chi Meditation: Saturdays, Feb. 14 and 28 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Morningside Branch. Learn the practices of Chi Meditation, which is designed to improve the body’s natural flow, regulate breathing, boost immunity and remove stagnation to enhance physiological and psychological well-being. Classes are open to adults 18 and over.

• Puzzle Exchange: Saturday, Feb. 14 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Paula A. Lewis Branch. Bring your gently used puzzles and leave with new-to-you puzzles.

• Ukulele Jam: Thursday, Feb. 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the Morningside Branch. Join us in partnership with the Treasure Coast Ukulele Club to bring your instrument or check one out at the library.

• Gardening Begins with You!: Friday, Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. at the Morningside Branch. Learn gardening techniques, exercises and tools that can make gardening easier and help protect your body from injury. Registration is required by calling: 772-462-1445.

• All Things Yarn: Saturday, Feb. 21 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Paula A. Lewis Branch. This program is for knitting, crocheting, or any other yarn craft. Bring and share whatever project you are working on with your own supplies.

• Romance Book Discussion Group: Saturday, Feb. 21 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Morningside Branch. Join us for a special Valentine’s Day themed discussion on “The Love Hypothesis” by Ali Hazelwood with a film adaptation coming soon.

• Silent Book Club: Saturday, Feb. 28 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Paula A. Lewis Branch. Introverts Unite for some quiet, communal reading time and casual socializing while you bring any book you like or grab one here.Acoustic Guitar Jam: Saturday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Morningside Branch. Time to unplug and play by grabbing your acoustic guitar to jam along and using your phone or tablet to access the song list.

• Movie Matinee: Saturday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Morningside Branch. Celebrate Black History Month with “Harriet,” based on the incredible true story of Harriet Tubman, played by Cynthia Erivo. Follow her from her escape from slavery to the dangerous missions she led, setting free hundreds of slaves through the Underground Railroad. The film is rated PG-13 with a running time of 125 minutes.
