The Captiva Civic Association (CCA) is set to present its next two events of the season.
The Get Pinned Porch & Patio will take place on Jan. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Captiva Civic Center, while Inner Wisdom Collage: Welcoming a New Season will be held on Jan. 30 from 3 to 6 p.m.
GET PINNED PORCH & PATIO
Part of its Porch & Patio series, the event will feature music, light fare and refreshments.
“We’re known for our Porch & Patio parties, which are always a fun time,” CCA Director Lauren McCraney said. “But the ‘Get Pinned’ one is special because we’re celebrating our 90th anniversary.”
Live entertainment will be provided by singer and guitarist Dan Smyth.
Attendees will enjoy treats from Catering by Leslie Adams.
“She’ll be there providing her delicious and amazing cuisine,” she said.
There will be an open bar.
In line with the “Get Pinned” theme, attending CCA members will receive a commemorative 90th anniversary lapel pin in celebration of what they and their support mean for the organization.
Karen Bell and the Bell Team, with Michael Saunders and Company, is the 2025-26 season sponsor.
McCraney noted that Bell has been involved with the CCA for decades.
“We’re grateful that she continues to support us,” she said. “Not just in being a sponsor, but in being a member and part of our community.”
R.L.R. Investments is the Porch & Patio series sponsor.
McCraney thanked R.L.R. Investments’ Ali Kendall and the company.
“We are appreciative of not just their support of the CCA, but everything they do for our community,” she said.
Tickets are free for members and $15 for non-members.
The community is invited to secure a spot.
“It’s always a fun time when we get together on our porch and patio,” McCraney said. “Just a lot of community laughter and camaraderie — and everyone is always welcome.”
INNER WISDOM COLLAGE
Malú Doherty and Cindy Petrakis-Mason will present the creative play workshop.
“Take a pause and step into a new season through a creative and intuitive process,” McCraney said. “Through collage and reflection, discover the images and symbols that hold wisdom and carry messages just for you.”
Attendees will make wisdom cards to inspire and anchor them in the months ahead.
“People do storyboards for the new year on their goals — this is similar,” she said. “They’re going to be building and creating wisdom cards using collage.”
No art skills are needed to participate.
Doherty and Petrakis-Mason have held other programs in partnership with the CCA.
“They host a lot of women’s group events,” McCraney said.
Tickets are $57 members and $72 for non-members and include all supplies.
The community is encouraged to reserve a seat.
“Anybody who’s experienced some of the workshops with Cindy and Malú know how special they are,” she said. “They walk away with a deeper understanding of themselves.”
