UCF professor arrest, accused of battery and trespassing

A UCF professor in the College of Optics and Photonics was arrested and charged with battery and trespassing on Tuesday in Oviedo, according to an arrest affidavit.

The affidavit states that Shuo Sean Pang had an altercation near the Oviedo Aquatic Center with a middle school student over riding an e-bike to school. Pang reportedly called out to the student to slow down on the e-bike, but the student refused.

Pang, 41, “chased after the student” onto Jackson Heights Middle School property, pulled his arm and “smacked his helmet off his head,” according to the affidavit.

Another student witnessed the altercation and stepped in to try to separate the two. Pang then allegedly pushed the second student, which was witnessed by the second student’s mother, the affidavit states.

Pang faces two charges of of first-degree battery and second-degree trespassing, according to case records.

An arraignment date is set for Nov. 18, according to case records.
