Gasparilla is a day of celebration, and, for some, a day of excess. If this is you, then you’ll most likely be searching for some recovery fuel the morning after Gasparilla. While there are a few ‘hair of the dog’ remedies that might help soothe your hangover, there’s nothing quite like a hearty breakfast to aid in the post-Gasparilla recovery.

And there is no better place for the morning-after debrief than in one of Tampa’s amazing breakfast diners. To save you the trouble of searching through Yelp reviews on Sunday morning, we’ve listed our favorites below.

Trip’s Diner

Regularly voted as one of the best breakfast restaurants in Tampa, Trip’s Diner is a local favorite. Its American homestyle breakfast is the perfect thing to get your spirits up after a long day of parading. Trip’s offers all-day breakfast, so even if you roll out of bed at 2 pm, you’ll still have plenty of time to get yourself some pancakes and grits.

Himes Breakfast House

Next up is a personal favorite of mine (maybe because it’s close to where I live in South Tampa). Himes Breakfast House is located on 3826 South Himes Avenue, and serves some of the best breakfast food in town. At Himes, you can stay hydrated with refillable coffee, orange juice, a delicious cold brew, and – if you’re truly looking for a hair-of-the-dog cure – mimosas. Himes whips up a number of belly-rubbing breakfast options, but my favorite is the Jessie Bowl: two eggs over a large bowl of Jessie’s famous loaded grits with toast or biscuit.

Mama’s Kitchen

If you’re looking for a breakfast that’ll make you slap your mama (metaphorically, of course), try Mama’s Kitchen! This family-owned restaurant has been in Tampa for over 15 years, delivering food that makes you feel right at home. Try one of Mama’s delectable specialties, like their conveniently-named Hangover Plate: a four-egg omelet with sausage, American cheese, a side of half biscuits & gravy, and choice of home fries, grits or hashbrowns.

Mom’s Place Restaurant

Mom’s Place serves homestyle breakfasts and classic diner ambiance. As restaurants across America hike up their prices, Mom’s delivers delicious meals with great portions that your wallet will love as well. After a day of walking around in the sun, you just might want to cool off in a relaxing environment like Mom’s.

Three Coins Diner

Three Coins Diner has been in the business since the ’80s! Providing a classic American dining experience, Three Coins is known for its casual, welcoming atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to fill up and fuel up after a day of ludicrous pirate behavior. Plus, they have vegan options for pirates with certain dietary preferences. Three Coins Diner is open from 12:00 AM – 12:00 AM every day of the week!
