ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A suspected rapist who met his victim on a dating app was arrested Thursday in Illinois, the St. Petersburg Police Department said in a news release.
Joshua Abercrombie, 21, was charged with sexual battery.
Detectives believe there may be more victims in the Tampa Bay area.
Abercrombie met his victim, “a young woman,” through a social media app, police said.
They met up in late November and during their date, “he became aggressive and sexually assaulted and choked her repeatedly,” investigators said.
