FORT PIERCE – A man who rammed his car into a St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office deputy’s patrol car was arrested after he also rammed two other vehicles in the same parking lot on Oct. 20, according to sheriff’s reports.

Reubenson Charles, 27, faces three counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon; three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; two counts of fleeing and eluding; two counts of felony driving without a license; and violation of probation out of Martin County.

At about 1:35 p.m., Oct. 20, deputies located an occupied black Mercedes-Benz parked near the Clubhouse at Kitterman Woods. This vehicle had been previously documented as having fled from SLCSO deputies in an incident a week ago, according to sheriff’s reports.

When Charles saw the officers, he accelerated and intentionally rammed two vehicles while attempting to flee through the parking lot, according to sheriff’s office reports. Deputies initiated a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver to stop the vehicle. During the attempt, the suspect continued to resist and forcefully drove into a marked patrol vehicle, striking a sergeant’s vehicle head-on, according to sheriff’s office reports.

No deputies were injured during the incident.

Charles is in the St. Lucie County Jail on no bond as of Oct. 21, according to jail records.
